Note: I’m finding myself writing more about what happened rather than what’s happening in my life. This is a very busy time and I have to carve out time and be deliberate about blogging so as not to let it go too long between posts.
That being said…Here We go…
Friday: Hallelujah night. Well, that’s what we call it anyway. We carved pumpkins in the afternoon making a mess out of a perfectly clean kitchen. The kids had some good ideas for their Jack’s, I wanted to take is a step farther by doing some sculpting. I started by turning the pumpkin on its side and used the stem to the nose. I then cut the tip off and skinned it so that I could carve the fleshy part into a brain. With an LED light shining straight up, the eyes were eyes lit nicely, and the brain glowed with the carvings setting off really nicely.
That night we went to church for the festival where the little storm trooper won his first ever cakewalk. His prize…the mummy cake. pretty cool night. see the pictures here.
Saturday: we played to a disappointing 3-0 loss to the Silver Surfers. We were in it to the last 7 or so minutes of the game. Good thing there are only 3 games left.
That afternoon we were off to the “Q” to attend in “The Call” this was a 12 hour prayer and fasting meeting for the state and propositions that are on the upcoming ballot. I don’t want to discount the power of prayer and fasting. The overall feeling was good. The bands and music were great, and the speakers that included James Dobson, and Pat Boone along with other also did a great job. The part that turned me off a little was the method in which everybody was either praying or speaking. The speakers for the most pare were yelling at, probably to the congregates. I know that desperate times call for desperate measures but I like to have my information and inspiration delivered to me at more of a simmer rather than a boil. The other thing that I found uncomfortable was the style of prayer. Although sincere, most everyone that got the mike was crying or shrieking in prayer, again not the most conductive my particular prayer life. either way, it was a powerful gathering. the turnstiles say about 30,000 turned out, but at any time, I think the tidal attendance was about 10,00 at any one time.
Sunday…Nothing…nada….zippo. We hung out around the house and folded some laundry, ate food and played dominoes.

I’m with you. Mixing that kind of politics and religion never goes well. What does it mean if the “wrong” side wins? The opponents can claim G-d is on their side or the other side?
It’s sort of like those turn of the century religious movements that claimed the end of the world on such and such a date… when that date came and went it left them in a bit of quandry.
