Weekend Update

It was a busy on

Friday: This night we had our first Star Party of the school year. For those of you who don’t know what that is…here’s the scoop. Our school teamed up with the SDAA (Dan Diego Astronomy Association) for an educational outreach for the students at the school. 6 scopes were set up looking at a few different targets in space, notably, Jupiter and the moon, both easily viewable at this particular time. We had over 125 people in attendance with parents and kids. The down shot was that the clouds moved in after about 45 minutes of viewing. Everybody had a great view, and we finished off the night with s’mors and hot chocolate. This night was a success from a couple of standpoints.

-First, the kids got to experience something that they had never seen before. Some have never looked through a scope before that night and their reactions were amazing.
-Second, we attempted this last February, and were literally rained out. 70 people showed up, but there was not a star in the sky.

Saturday: Our first victory. We played an undefeated team, and handed them their first loss. The girls played well scoring 3 goals and playing great defense. We took the lead with 5 or so minutes left to play, so we backed off on offense, but hit them hard on defense. The girls literally played the ball, and dominated the other team. When it was all over, I think I did a back flit. And they said it would never happen

Sunday: our 17th wedding anniversary. We spent the morning at church, and then off to the Wild Animal Park for the afternoon. WE haven’t been there for a while and there have been some changes made. We are members, and so we really didn’t bring much cash with us. We had lunch on the way and some snax at the park, but it seems now that everything you do in the park, costs something. What ever happened with free with your admission?

When we left the park we caught enough of the Charger post game to learn that they lost 17-10 to the Fins. I really have no comment, I didn’t see one snap of the game,

Later that nigh my wife enjoyed a dinner…just the two of us, and we found a new family to watch the kids. A schoolmate of the girls lives only a few miles away, and the live on a kinda of a back country cul-de-sac nestled up against the hills of avocado groves. The kids spent a few hours there, and we had time together.

The bitter sweet thing about this weekend was that we were supposed to go to Idyllwild for 3 days but a last minute change by the in-laws mad that impossible, so we scaled back, and maybe we can get outta town in the months to come.
