midweek mish mash

It’s all about me: I’ve been working in the garage, and neglecting things like the back yard…priorities I guess. The boy has not gone to pre-school all this week due to the illness of his teacher. This has chained me to him, and deprived me of much need ME time. If he goes on Friday, I may be able to salvage the week.

Music: I loaded a few more tunes on o the mp3 player yesterday…Van Halen, Toto, Coldplay & John Denver. That’s a mixed bag if I’ve ever seen one. As far as the player etiquette, I’m not sure when there is an appropriate time to use it. Things I’ve come to realize about these things in the last few days are:

• My kids walk around with theirs on their heads, and I find myself repeating myself time and again to get their attention.
• Yesterday I missed a phone call because I couldn’t hear the ring.
• You can use them while driving.
• Kids walk down the street in groups, and all of them have plugs in their ears.
• I’m thinking about getting some baggy pants, a ball cap with a really flat bill, and hanging out at the 7-11 just to fit in.

As cool as they are, they are as annoying as cell phones.

A night out: Tonight was AWANA for the kids. That means me and the misses had 2 hours to ourselves. We had a quick dinner at Rubio’s and browsed over at Target to get some “Great Heart” supplies, and then we did something that we rarely do. We went to Starbucks and sat down at a table and just talked for 30 minutes. It was a nice time together.

Looking Forward: I got the Valentines dinner reservations taken care of today. My wife found the restaurant, one that we haven’t been to in several years. We were in a debate over where we should we should go. We have a “usual’ nice place in La Jolla, but in the interest of our pocket book, we decided to scale back this year. I’ve got a few things planned for the night, none of which I can post due to the fact that my wife reads this dribble from time to time.

Looking Back: Super Tuesday left the Conservative in me wanting more. I haven’t settled on the person I think should be president yet. When I walked into my polling booth, I saw my opportunity to vote my conscience…Duncan Hunter. My wife told me that I wasted my vote, but I don’t think so. I think I would have wasted my vote if I had compromised my principals. My feeling is that he is (was) the candidate that best fits my idea of what the president should be. Not because he’s a Christian, and happens to have ties to my church, and not because I know his sister-in-law. This guy is about as right as you can get, strong on defense, strong on border control, pro life, and fiscally conservative. it’s a shame he couldn’t get enough traction to get noticed.
