getting back to normal

The World Series: I have no real stake in the World Series, but what is up with the Rockies??? This is a team that steamrolled over the NL west in the last part of the regular season, and swept its way to the World Series. Like I said, I really don’t care who wins this year, but come on, lets make it interesting. It’s time for Colorado to step up and play the kind of ball that got them there in the first place…let’s go Rockies….?

The Red Hots: the girls were handed their first loss of the season last weekend 2-o. they played well, but the other team played a fast game. They were constantly moving, and beating our girls to the ball. We played well, but not fast enough to win this one. There was one more aspect to the game last week, the opposing team attitude. From our girls on the field, they were being taunted, and pushed around over the course of the game. One kid even bad mouthed the ref. If there is one thing that can be learned from this it is how to have dignity during victory and defeat. Our team did well, the other, not so much.

A Musical Weekend: last Friday night we played country tunes at the Wild West Fair. Things went well, a fun time was had by all. This years fair was bigger than ant other before it, so it looks like I’ll be putting the band together till my kids graduate…not a bad thing.

We rolled that same band over to church the next evening. We gave the congregation a dose of that old time religion. We played traditional hymns with country flair. We had a great Dobro player sit in and a guitar player that doubled on mandolin. All in all, I think Saturday was better than Friday.

Getting back to normal: we’ve pretty much unpacked the valuables, the pictures still aren’t back on the walls yet, but that is a task for tomorrow. We will probably finish the bathroom this weekend, then its time to start the next project…the bedroom. New paint, scrape the popcorn off the ceiling, new flooring, the works. No soccer this weekend due to the fires, and the girls have a scheduled week off from school, back that up to the week they just had off, and I’m going to go nuts here in the house.
