Padres drop 3 outta 4: the pads held their own in game 1 last Thursday. But were out scores 28 to 8 for the series. They were beaten, handily by the Philly’s. The only saving grace is that the Dodgers also dropped 3 to the Mets this weekend. I’m not sure if I want to take back my good pitching beats good bats, maybe I should amend that a little. To make matters worse, the Pad’s snatched defeat from the jaws of victory last night after the Rockies came back from 5-2 to win 7-5.
The Big Top: Termite tenting is eminent. Bought and paid for, we got the best deal at Corky’s pest control. Their price was $400 less that the other guys and their guarantee is 4 years rather than 1. I’m imagining that there is little difference in application of this process. I’ve seen houses get tented, no matter who quotes the price, the job is most always given to a sub contractor. Same deal with this company. Now we have to prep the house and house plants, get the food out or bagged up put the dog up for a couple of nights. That should be fun.
They’re Back: the Argentine Ant. This is the time of year when the ants come literally out of the woodwork. With the little rain that we’ve had this year, they are on the move. It reminds me exactly how porous our house is. They live out in the yard, and come up thru the walls and in some cases get into the kitchen through cracks in the mortar in the tile. They will find the smallest crumb, and devour it. Last night I did a thorough scrub down, and this morning, no ants. Come next month that will be over with the tenting. Anything that is alive will be dead afterwards.
Up Early: My wife has a 5:30 am class to teach today, so we were both up early today. I think I’ll go back to bed and inspect the insides of my eyelids
