Thanksgiving dinner
If you’ve never baked a bird in a bag before, you’re missing out. We had the moistest, flavorful bird that we’ve had in years, and it was done in an oven bag in about 3 ½ hours. Mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, Cranberry Relish, along with the rest of the trimmings made for a great meal. Afterward we went down the street for dessert, and of to the race track for “the Holiday of Lights” this may be the last year for the “HoL” because the SD Thoroughbred association wants to put in an $8.5 million composite dirt track, and they don’t want 4 million tires a year driving on it.
The Aftermath
Tonight we are going have left-overs, pop some popcorn, and kick back and watch Cars. Taking it easy for the next few days, this is the calm before the storm. The calendar is pretty blank next week, but the week after starts 18 performances at church, the children’s musical, a string of birthday parties, (School, Ice Skating, and family)all of which are for the girls, and, oh yeah, Christmas, and all the preparation that goes along with that. I can’t wait till March.
Learning to Fly
We took the training wheels off the bikes today, in the anticipation of new bikes from Santa. WE live at the top of the street, but have a corner that is relatively flat, so sink or swim, they’re off. As they are new at riding without T-wheels, I’m also new at teaching them how to balance. After a few tries with different methods, I think broke it down to four skills.
1 Keep your head up and eyes forward
2 No Spaghetti arms
3 keep your bike under your bottom, and keep your bottom under your head
4 Don’t stop pedaling.
After a few tries, they were able to ride a few seconds on their own. I got out my bike after a few years and road it around a little. I did not realize how out of shape I am, until I went around the block foe a quick ride. Looks like I need to become a little more active.
Pee pee coming…
The J-dog is well into potty training. He’s pretty good at number 1, but apologizes when he number 2’s in the old pull up. This is something he just decided to do. With a little motivation, Lightning McQueen pull-ups, and some privacy, he’s learning the ropes.
